History

Busan’s port history and Daegu’s inland mercantile role shaped different urban fabrics; both cities were central to 20th-century industrial and cultural shifts that formed contemporary youth culture.

Conservation

Treat murals and memorials as community property—avoid touching, littering or defacing art; support local markets rather than large chains to keep economic benefits local.

Recommended gear

Comfortable walking shoes: Support for repeated short walks on pavement, stairs and market alleys.
Light daypack: Holds water, cash, layers and souvenirs without getting in the way on the van.
Power bank: Keeps phones and cameras charged through long shooting days and navigation.
Portable rain jacket or umbrella: Quick protection against sudden showers—Korea’s weather can change rapidly, especially in summer.
