You step out before sunrise into the dry Karoo light; the jeep’s engine rumbles and the landscape opens — scrub, koppies and a horizon that seems to lean toward you. Tracks scratch the dust as guides scan the long grass; vultures wheel like punctuation marks above ridgelines. The reserve’s rhythm is deliberate: grazers move in cautious herds, predators test silence, and the wind keeps the day honest.
