The full-day tour is very long—about 18 hours with pickups beginning around 04:00 and return to San Cristóbal near 22:00. You can opt to end in Palenque if you don’t want to return the same day.
Swimming is allowed in designated pools at Agua Azul but conditions change—follow local signs and guide instructions. At Misol Ha swimming is generally discouraged near the plunge; many visitors enjoy the grotto and viewpoints instead.
Palenque involves 1–3 km of walking on uneven stone and packed-earth paths with some steps; it’s not technical climbing but requires steady footing and moderate stamina.
Bring cash for breakfast, lunch, souvenirs, and small park fees; some meals are not included. Bottled drinks are available at tourist centers but having your own water is recommended.
