Glass Blowing Class is a 90-minute, hands-on honey processing workshop held at the workshop (location not provided). Show up, get moved to the hives on a gator, suit up, and work through the familiar steps of honey production: uncapping frames, filtering liquid gold, and jarring finished honey you take home. The program is run for small groups — up to 10 people — and requires participants be at least 18 years old; the setting is ADA compliant and designed for folks who want a tactile introduction to beekeeping without committing to a hive.
The scene is immediate and sensory: wooden frames streaked with amber comb; bees busy at the entrance of the hive; the faint floral perfume of fresh honey. Key features include on-site beehives (accessed via the gator), a workshop bench for filtering and jarring, and the final take-away jars that make the experience memorable. The activity moves through simple, safe steps: check in with Mary up front, ride to the hives, work the frames together, filter honey into jars, label and leave with your own jar. Organizers warn that bees are usually gentle but may sting, and children under 18 are discouraged — babies in particular are called out as a poor fit.
Practical details matter: the session runs about 90 minutes. If you must cancel, the host holds 50% to support colony care — an explicit conservation-minded policy that underwrites local apiary costs. The experience includes no elaborate lecture; it is a hands-on processing shift: show up, do stuff, take stuff, leave. Extras include branded merch available for purchase. Accessibility is a plus — the site is described as 100% ADA compliant — and group sizes stay small, which keeps the pace relaxed and social.
This is unusual in a landscape of tasting rooms and farm tours because it centers the processing step: instead of sampling honey from a shelf, you become part of the chain that turns brood comb into labeled jars. It’s a short, tactile course in where food comes from that blends biology, craft, and a modest conservation ethic. Pack clothes you don’t mind getting sticky, expect a hands-on rhythm, and be ready to meet a couple of stings as part of the learning curve. For a city weekend trip, this is the kind of local, grounded experience that leaves you with both a story and a jar.
Many regions have long-standing beekeeping practices; this operation connects visitors to that local craft while supporting pollinator health. The small-group format and direct access to active hives make it a standout seasonal outing for curious travelers and food-lovers who want a concrete, hands-on souvenir that doubles as a lesson in ecosystem stewardship and guards pollinators too.
The workshop runs approximately 90 minutes from check-in to departure.
Participants must be at least 18 years old; babies are not recommended.
Bees are generally gentle during processing, but stings are possible; participants should be prepared for minor risk.
Yes — the description lists the location as 100% ADA compliant.
If you cancel, the host keeps 50% of the fee to support colony care and apiary costs.
You’ll leave with a jar of the honey you helped process, labeled and ready to enjoy.
