Friday Youth Night at Hub HQ Alexandra: Games, Snacks & Safe Supervised Evenings for Teens

You can feel the low hum of energy as the doors open at Hub HQ – Alexandra, a community activity center at 47 Centennial Avenue in Alexandra, Otago Region, New Zealand. On Friday nights the space converts into a supervised youth night for ages 15 and up: a three-hour mix of organized games, music, snack breaks and free play run by trained staff. It’s designed to give teens a structured but relaxed evening where they can try a dodgeball circuit, test laser tag-style reflex games, join team challenges, or simply hang out in a social lounge. The venue is divided into age-appropriate zones: active play courts, mellow social spaces, and a snack and refreshment area. All equipment is supplied and staff lead a clear check-in and briefing at 6:30 PM before activities begin. The itinerary moves from an opening briefing to a timed rotation of organized activities, a snack break, and open free-play so participants choose their comfort level. The scene favors energetic play but includes quieter corners for conversation and board games. Hub HQ stands out in Alexandra because it provides a safe, affordable late-evening option in a town better known for river valleys and Central Otago’s schist slopes than for youth programming. Located close to the Clutha/Mata-au river corridor, the center plays an important role in local social life by giving teens a place to connect inside warm, well-lit facilities during cooler months and active, ventilated spaces in summer. Practical details are straightforward: arrive for 6:30 PM check-in at reception; bring socks, comfortable clothes, and any medication. The program includes snacks, full access to all age-suited zones, and all game gear. Transport is not provided. Staff adapt activities where possible for mobility limitations and prioritize safety; repeated unsafe behavior can result in restricted participation. This youth night is more than an activity rental — it’s community infrastructure. For families traveling through Central Otago, it’s a reliable option for a wholesome evening while adults sort logistics or enjoy a nearby meal. It’s also a landing spot for teens seeking new friends, team challenges, and supervised freedom. Bookings are required and there is a clear cancellation policy: cancellations more than 24 hours receive a full refund while bookings within 24 hours are non-refundable; transfers to another eligible participant are allowed. Arrive promptly for the 6:30 PM briefing, and let staff know about dietary restrictions or special needs at check-in so accommodations can be made and thank you.
