Friday Night Art Party with Donna — Monroe GA Monthly 2-Hour Adult Art Workshop

On a third Friday of each month in Monroe, Georgia, the Monroe Walton community arts center comes alive for a two-hour Friday Night Art Party led by Donna Coffman. Held in an upstairs classroom at MWCA, this adults-only (21+) session trades bar crowds for paint-streaked aprons, approachable instruction, and a small, social atmosphere that’s ideal for a creative night out. The format is simple: Donna introduces a fresh project—watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, collage, or another surprise—demonstrates key techniques, and guides the group step by step while leaving room for personal choices. Materials rotate with the monthly theme, so every session feels new; finished pieces vary because the aim is process and play, not perfection. Expect to learn fundamentals—color mixing, brushwork, composition—and to experiment with texture and layering. Pieces are designed to be completed or nearly completed in the two-hour window so you leave with a tangible result. Bring your own snacks and drinks, settle into a table, and plan on about two hours from arrival to shared show-and-tell. What makes this offering special in Monroe’s outdoor and cultural scene is its low-pressure, community-first focus. MWCA grew its education program under local volunteers and arts advocates; Donna has been a visible force in that growth since joining the board in 2015 and has taught in neighborhood co-ops for years. Her patient, encouraging style lets absolute beginners make something they’re proud of while giving experienced makers space to experiment. Regulars praise how the mood balances instruction with social time; newcomers often return the next month. The class doubles as a social hub—perfect for a date night, a friend group, or striking up conversation with fellow locals who love trying something new. Practical details matter: sessions start after regular MWCA hours and take place upstairs, so participants should be comfortable using stairs. Arrive five minutes early to get settled; if the door is locked, ring the doorbell or call Donna’s cell. Projects and materials may shift with supply availability, and classes can be rescheduled for instructor illness or other unforeseen events. No prior experience required, but the night moves at a relaxed, craft-focused pace. For visitors to Monroe looking to add a low-key indoor activity to a weekend of hiking, dining, or river paddling nearby, this Friday Night Art Party provides a creative reset and a way to meet locals. It’s an intimate, reliably fun way to cap a day outdoors—leave with a handmade piece, a few new skills, and the kind of casual, creative connection that makes small-town arts scenes memorable. Bookings are handled through the event listing; popular months can fill quickly, so reserve your spot early. Check the event page for themes and any supply or age updates today online.
