The pontoon slips away from Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach and the shoreline of Freeport shrinks into a line of palms and low roofs. Salt air fills the cabin as the captain steers toward Peterson Cay, a tiny protected island where the water changes from aquamarine to the dark patches of coral gardens. The guide points, you slip into the water, and the reef becomes an active stage—parrotfish grazing, soft corals swaying, and stony heads holding the current.
