The day opens with salt air and a stretch of flat blue that seems to push you forward. After pickup in Miami or Fort Lauderdale you cross the Overseas Highway, arriving in Islamorada where a marine biologist meets the small group. You launch into a cathedral of old-growth mangroves: low channels, prop roots probing the water, and sunlight threading through leaves as fish scatter at your paddle’s wake.
