Florence Shotgun Experience: 5-Stand & Sporting Clays in Central Texas

Shotgun Experience in Florence, Texas, United States is a focused, one-hour clay shooting session that gets you behind the line on a working ranch range. At Staccato-hosted Shotgun Experience shooters rotate through a 5-stand layout and a Sporting Clays course that simulate birds on the wing and flushing targets. The field sits on open Central Texas ranchland where short limestone outcrops, low cedar breaks, and seasonal wildflowers frame the flight of orange clay targets. This guided, all-inclusive package supplies shotguns, ammunition, hearing and eye protection, and an instructor who runs each station with clear range commands and safety briefings. That structure makes the experience especially appealing to mixed-ability groups: complete beginners leave having broken targets and learned the basics, while experienced shooters enjoy target presentations that move and vary like real upland game. The operation limits groups to eight shooters per booking, keeping wait time low and station rotations brisk. Two booking details matter: participants must be at least 16 years old, and reservations are required at least 48 hours in advance. Same-day bookings are not accommodated, so plan your trip and slot in an evening or morning session. Weather in Central Texas can be changeable; the hosts will advise on rescheduling if storms threaten. Expect a one-hour duration on range time, but allow extra for check-in, instruction, and travel to the site. Beyond the pull of the clay line, this kind of range sits within a broader outdoor playground. In spring, fields can be carpeted with bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush around limestone mottes; cedar and live oak frame the approach roads the rest of the year. Bringing a camera is rewarded at golden-hour light, when clay targets arc against wide Texas skies. Practical advice: bring a government-issued ID, closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and any personal shooting accessories you prefer. If you’re traveling from nearby towns, Florence is the closest place to expect basic services; larger accommodations and dining are available in nearby counties. Whether you want an introduction to shotgun sports, a team-bonding outing, or a high-energy way to spend an afternoon in rural Texas, Shotgun Experience delivers focused coaching, controlled range conditions, and the simple satisfaction of a solid hit. What sets this operation apart is the blend of Sporting Clays complexity and a social 5-stand—both offered in a single, compact session so shooters sample long, arcing targets and fast presentations. Instructors emphasize safe stance, gun mount, and tracking, adjusting coaching for left- or right-handed participants. Travelers can add this hour to a central Texas weekend without consuming a full day, pairing it with fishing, hiking, or a ranch drive. The small group cap and required 48-hour booking keep sessions focused and professional, making Shotgun Experience a memorable outdoor outing.
