The motorcoach hums out of Florence before dawn and the Tuscan plains give way to olive-scraped hills and then the sea—sudden, bright and insistent. By mid-morning you’ll step into Manarola’s narrow lanes where pastel houses lean toward the cliff edge and the Ligurian Sea dares you to lean back and take it all in. Later, Vernazza’s church bells punctuate the harbor chatter; Monterosso offers sand, salt, and a chance to cool off.

Expect several short walks with uneven steps and standing time; you should be comfortable on your feet for multiple 30–60 minute segments.
If sea conditions are unsafe, the itinerary substitutes scheduled boat segments with regional trains between villages—views remain excellent though the perspective shifts from water to rail.
