Step off the dock at Flamingo and the mangroves close in like a green corridor; the engine hum is steady, and a naturalist’s voice threads history and biology into the morning light. The boat eases up Buttonwood Canal, slips past Coot Bay and Tarpon Creek, then opens into the wide tidal sweep of Whitewater Bay—where mudflats, mangrove roots and a scatter of islands define the horizon.

The guided boat tour lasts about 90 minutes and follows Buttonwood Canal through Coot Bay and Tarpon Creek into Whitewater Bay, roughly 38 miles inside the Everglades region from the park entrance area.
