Five-Week Drawing & Painting Course with Cyd Keefe at Creative 360, Midland

At 5501 Jefferson Ave in Midland, Michigan, Drawing & Painting w Cyd Keefe - Fall 2026 Session I offers a relaxed five-week series designed for anyone ready to make marks and learn technique. Held Wednesdays from 1:00–3:00 pm across five sessions (Sept 9, 16, 23, 30, Oct 7), this Creative 360 offering pairs observational drawing fundamentals with acrylic painting practice under the guidance of Cynthia Keefe, MFA, Creative 360 Co-Founder. The room is set up for hands-on learning: easels and worktables accommodate small groups (maximum 10), natural light from studio windows, and a pace that welcomes absolute beginners as well as painters refining their voice. The class divides into two tracks—drawing and painting—so you can focus on perspective, proportion, composition, shading and material functions, or dig into acrylic color mixing, mediums, and compositional strategies. Materials lists are sent upon registration, and the instructor adapts projects to individual goals; students should expect a mix of demos, short exercises, and longer studio time to build a personal piece. Why come here when visiting Midland? Creative 360 is a lively community hub for makers and the class is a gateway into the town’s broader creative scene. After a session, students often stroll to nearby Dow Gardens or visit the Alden B. Dow Home and Studio to see architecture and landscapes that inform local artists. With small groups and tailored feedback, instruction feels personal, helping you take home a finished work and a clearer set of skills. Practical notes: this is a five-class package priced at $100 per person; pre-registration is required and materials are NOT included in the base fee until you receive the list. Ages 16 and up are welcome. The meeting point is 5501 Jefferson Ave; check-in details are provided when you register. Parking is typically available nearby and the building is accessible via street-level entry. If you’re curious about learning observational drawing or trying acrylics for the first time, this series balances structure and creative freedom. It’s an approachable way to deepen studio practice, meet local artists, and leave Midland with something you made. For visitors, a single afternoon in this classroom feels like a meaningful local exchange—hands-on instruction inside a community arts space, followed by an easy walk to the cultural sites that make Midland distinct. Bring a sketchbook or a canvas (materials list provided), an apron, and curiosity. Beginners will appreciate clear instruction on proportion and value; returning painters will enjoy color mixing exercises and medium experimentation. Expect conversation, short demos, one-on-one coaching, and time to complete a project. Booking through the provided referral link guarantees your spot in this intimate fall session. Come ready to experiment, ask questions, and leave with practical skills you can build on.
