Located in southeastern Wisconsin near the shores of Lake Delavan, Guide Ide offers a standout freshwater fishing experience with expert guidance from Captain Doug Ide. This region, renowned for its chain of glacially formed lakes including Delavan, Geneva, Como, and Eagle Lakes, provides some of the best inland fishing waters in the Midwest. Doug’s deep knowledge of these waters, combined with his patient teaching style and family-friendly approach, sets Guide Ide apart for both novices and seasoned anglers.
Trips range from targeted bass outings to musky hunts and even ice fishing excursions during winter months. Doug’s reputation consistently highlights his ability to put clients on water teeming with bass, northern pike, and musky, with many recounting memorable catches well above average size. He tailors each trip, sharing insights into seasonal fish behavior and effective bait choices, which adds an educational layer beyond just a day on the water.
The business is built on trust and local expertise. Doug often recommends purchasing a one-day fishing license and meeting directly at access points, maximizing time spent fishing rather than navigating logistics. His clean, well-maintained boat and ready-to-go tackle mean anglers can hit the water immediately, no fuss. His commitment to postponing trips when conditions aren’t optimal demonstrates integrity rare in the guiding world.
Situated just west of Milwaukee and a reasonable drive from Chicago, Delavan is an accessible destination for anglers seeking a balance of peaceful lakescapes and active fish populations.
