Our morning tour departs from Cape Levesque turn-off along sealed and unsealed roads, with a breathtaking drive along the vibrant red Pindar cliffs, overlooking the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Between July and September, don’t be surprised to see humpbacks just offshore, on their migratory journey. The colours of the Kimberley come alive in the early morning light. Along the way, we fish at resting pools using traditional fishing methods to catch the elusive Mangrove Jack or Barramundi, while sharing stories of how Traditional Owners lived on Saltwater Country. We explore the mangroves at low tide. An important part of a healthy Country, they provide shelter, food and a nursery to marine life. This unique ecosystem is teeming with life and was central to the traditional hunter-gather lifestyle of Jaden’s ancestors. We finish the tour at a sheltered campsite where we cook up the day's catch and enjoy cold drinks and freshly made sandwiches over lunch while Jaden and his team tell stories of the on-country history and culture of the Jabirr Jabirr mob.
The camp area where we stop for lunch will have a Bowshed (shack) and an open fire pit for cooking the day’s catch, as well as table and chairs and ablution facilities.
Bunda Bunda NJ Tours offers adventurers the opportunity to undertake a 4x4 guided tag-along experience, to investigate and engage with a stretch of the coastline through the eyes of Traditional Owners whose ancestors have walked this land for centuries.
