Duration

Scenic flight: 25 minutes Hike: 3 or 6 hours Boat trip back to town centre: 10 minutes

About

Departing from our Te Anau lakeside base, the journey begins by soaring over Lake Te Anau. Soak up views of the Hidden Lakes before flying above the local’s playground. We land at a mountain tarn – take a breath of crisp alpine air and enjoy rugged mountain views over the Main Divide.

Once airborne again, you’ll fly over the remote Kepler Mountains before getting dropped off at the Luxmore Hut. Enjoy stunning views over the South Arm of Lake Te Anau before beginning your hike on the Kepler Great Walk trail.

  • Soar high above the Kepler Mountains and view the Kepler Track from the air
  • Land beside a pretty mountain tarn with views of the Main Divide
  • View the ‘Hidden Lakes’ from the air
  • Enjoy a taste of the well-formed Kepler Track
  • Explore fascinating limestone caves (optional)
  • Combine air, land, and lake for a fantastic experience amidst the Fiordland wilderness
  • The track is easy to follow, but we’ll provide you with a full briefing before departure. You have the option to make it a half or full day trip

Option 1 for hike: Luxmore Hut – Brod Bay

Elevation 1000 meters 8km allow 2 hours and 45min. The well-formed track winds through native beech forest and is all downhill to Brod Bay, onto the shores of Lake Te Anau.

Option 2 for hike: Luxmore Hut – Luxmore Summit – Brod Bay

Elevation 1425 meters 16km allow 5 hours and 45min. We highly recommend this option so you can soak up the amazing views from Luxmore Summit, before descending onto the shores of Lake Te Anau.

What Should You Bring
