Students love the opportunity to get outside to learn about nature and compete in group activities that promote bonding and understanding.

$20 per person - 20 person minimum

We've had students from schools all across the county as well as home school groups come spend the day with us. At our Outpost (where you park) we have the following amenities: restrooms, showers/changing rooms, hammocks, swings, stage, picnic tables, propane grills (propane supplied), fridge, ice maker, water dispenser, microwave, coffee maker, sinks and more. Most groups grill a lunch or bring a picnic lunch to eat before heading back to school. Students will also enjoy a variety of yard games available at the Outpost: giant connect 4, giant jenga, giant tic tac toe, corn hole, ring toss, slack line, etc.

Below is a list of our various activities available for the students to participate in while at River Island Adventures. All activities are optional and depending on the number of students we can divide them into groups to do different activities at the same time. Give us a call to customize an itinerary for your group of students!

Welcome Message: 10 minutes Students will gather and be greeted upon arrival to River Island Adventures. Instructions and information will be provided regarding restrooms, safety and details about the fun day ahead.

Nature Talk & Outdoor Skills: 30 minutes (all ages) Students will learn about the Waccamaw River (water color, types of wildlife, types of trees, Waccamaw Indians), how to build a fire and the wildlife in the area.

Scavenger Hunt: 45 minutes (ages 10 & up) Students will be given items to find in nature as they walk through the woods learning about various plants and trees.

Arts & Crafts: 45 minutes (all ages) Students will create nature-inspired crafts using leaves, twigs and other natural materials.

Lunch Break: 30 minutes Students can bring a bag lunch or feel free to use our propane grills, fridge, sinks, commercial ice maker & microwave to prepare a lunch.

Team Building Activities: 1 hour (all ages) Students will participate in a variety of guided activities: hole tarp challenge, pipe bridge challenge, tug of war, kick ball, dodge ball & more.

Kayaking: 1 hour (ages 10 & up) Students will be given safety instructions and can kayak on the Waccamaw River. Chaperones and/or parents will be required to help supervise students while on the water. Groups of up to 30 students can be on the water kayaking at one time.

SURVIVOR Games: 1-2 hours (challenges will be modified based on ages) Students will also have the opportunity to participate in our SURVIVOR Games and challenges. The students will be divided into groups (maximum of 30 students per group) and divided into 6 teams to compete in the challenges. The challenges may be done in heats depending on the total number of students on the field trip. This is the most popular activity for the students and is a great team building activity.

Tent Camping & S'mores: additional $10 per person

Extend the field trip into an overnight experience to make even more lasting memories! Bring your sleeping bag and a change of clothes to enjoy a night under the stars. We will provide 10 Person Tents and s'mores kits for the students. There is a bathhouse with restrooms and hot showers (bring a towel) at our Outpost. Added Bonus: while the group is gathered around the fire roasting s'mores we will "Call the Owls" so the students will have a chance to see some Barred Owls fly into the Outpost for an unforgettable experience!
