Experience the rich agricultural heritage of Pico Island on a captivating 6-hour tour. Visit a local dairy farm to witness the milking of Holstein-Frisian cows, explore vibrant greenhouses, and plant endemic Azorean species. Conclude with a scenic walk along ancient trails, culminating in breathtaking coastal views.

Pico Island Azores
Agriculture and livestock are part of local life. Initially, in the early days of the Island`s settlement, they maintained human survival. In the present moment, they reveal the importance of food production, employment creation, wealth, and technical development.
Aiming of show this reality in a playful way and simultaneously acquire knowledge, we will visit a bovine dairy farm (from a local producer) and follow the process of the Holstein- Frisian milking cows.
The milking procedure is done mechanically by means of a mobile machine outdoors in full natural pasture.
Visitors have the opportunity to meet the producer, walk in full natural pasture and capture “images and sensations” that the surrounding environment provides.
Another aspect of the itinerary, corresponds to greenhouses vegetables production.
The farm we will see is immersed in nature, surrounded by green pasture lands, making it a very pleasant place to stopover. In this itinerary it ́s possible to experience planting Azorean Endemic Plants.
This takes us to the “highlands” towards the Central Plateau to come across with the rich and diverse Pico Island ́s Endemic Vegetation.
The symbolism of this experience is to allow Visitors to enjoy the existing Environmental Heritage and make an active contribution in the process of regeneration, preservation and forest and environmental enhancement.
After this, we end the itinerary with about 2 to 3 Km(s) walk towards the coast área, through old agricultural trails and paths made of clay and lava surrounded by stone structures.
The path culminates in an attractive “scenario” of sea and land.
