$150 per camper
Holiday break spent exploring and engaging with the Indian River Lagoon is one that is not easy to forget! There is no better way to break up the school year than taking our learning outside and having hands-on, feet-wet experiences along with knowledgeable instructors and other enthusiastic campers. Whether we are kayaking, boating, or exploring our restored salt marsh, discovery awaits at every turn.
Payment is required at the time of the reservation. Cancellations must be made two weeks in advance to receive a refund. For single day holiday camps, a minimum of 8 campers booked is necessary for the boat to be utilized during camp.
A waste-free lunch and snack, refillable water bottle, sunscreen, hat/sunglasses, swimwear, towel, closed-toe water shoes (required) and a change of dry clothes/sneakers.
Camp hours 9:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
Student Holiday Day Camp: The morning will be spent embarking on our pontoon boat, The Discovery, to Disappearing Island where we will explore mangrove forests and meet the resident critters of the Indian River Lagoon. When we return to MDC Main Campus, we will learn about more exciting Florida ecosystems.
Multi-Day Student Holiday Camps: During our multi-day holiday camps, we will be cruising to islands on our pontoon boat, The Discovery as well as fishing, kayaking, and taking time to learn what makes the Indian River Lagoon so special. When we are at Main Campus, we will be doing science experiments that follow Florida Science Standards, arts and crafts, nature walks and exploring our restored salt marsh.
Bring sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to protect against sun during outdoor activities.
Dress in quick-drying, lightweight clothes and water shoes suitable for kayaking and boat rides.
Bring a water bottle and take frequent breaks to stay hydrated during active parts of the camp.
Maintain a respectful distance from animals and follow instructor guidance for safe wildlife viewing.
