You step from the marina boardwalk onto the Bluefoot and the salt air seems to push you forward—black skull flags snap in the breeze as the captain calls out a jaunty welcome. Children get temporary tattoos and eye patches while adults take in the low, flat sweep of the Intracoastal and the Atlantic beyond. Minutes after casting off, the ship becomes a stage: water cannons roar, the villain Barnacle Bill appears, and everyone is handed a role in the chase for treasure.
