A cool morning at Lindvallen: instructors tighten sprayskirts while children test paddle strokes on shore. The packrafts are small, light, and bright against the dark water as the group threads into narrow creeks that cut through heath and young pine. The current grabs the hull in places, demanding short, decisive paddle strokes; in calmer pools you drift and listen to the forest breathe.

Suitable for families with moderate fitness; you should be able to hike short distances and paddle actively for sustained intervals.

Operators monitor conditions; high water can make the trip more technical and may be adjusted or canceled for safety.
Yes — all required flotation and helmets are included in equipment provided by the operator.
Sälen’s landscape reflects post-glacial shaping and a history of timber transport; summer river trips reveal routes once used for moving logs and local summer travel.
Operators encourage low-impact paddling—stay on durable shorelines, pack out waste, and avoid disturbing riparian vegetation to protect spawning habitat.
