The slower pace of this tour is perfect for families with children. You’ll leave at 10:00 a.m. and wrap up in time for lunch before the wind and waves that sometimes pick up in the afternoon. We'll take it easy, leaving plenty of time for wildlife observation and paddling fun. We don’t have an age minimum, but our smallest life jacket fits a child who weighs at least 50 pounds (22.6 kg), which is usually a 5- or 6-year-old. Each child must paddle in a tandem kayak with an adult.
This tour is approximately 90 minutes from start to finish, with the first 20 minutes on the beach getting acquainted with your guide(s) and the equipment. They’ll make sure you’re properly outfitted, prepared and comfortable before you launch from shore. Because this tour is intentionally more leisurely, you may not cover as much distance as on some of our other point-to-point experiences. The focus here is FUN—and this loop centers on smiles.
• Trained, experienced local guide or guides • No previous kayaking experience needed • We recommend that families with children under the age of 10 consider a shorter experience, such as our Family Family tour or a 90-minute rental • We provide paddles, life jackets and waterproof cell phone cases • Tandem (2-person) kayaks are used on all shared tours. For groups of three, five or seven people (rather than even numbered sizes), we’ll fill the extra space in the remaining kayak with another customer from a different group or with one of our crew. If you or any of your party must be in a single kayak, please book a private tour instead.
• Water — at least one liter • Sun and eye protection (sunglasses and/or a hat with a brim) • Synthetic, athletic clothes and shoes that can get sandy or wet (or go barefoot) • Avoid cotton clothing like jeans and sweatshirts; they dry slowly and are chilly when wet
Groups of three people or fewer may sign up for group tours; however, a tour will not go out unless there are at least four people and is subject to canceling, rescheduling, changing to a rental or upgrading to a private tour.
Ensure everyone in your group wears a life jacket for safety, as water conditions can change unexpectedly.
Use sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to stay protected during sunny days on the water.
Carry waterproof bags or cases for your electronics and valuables to keep them dry.
Bring plenty of water to stay refreshed during your outdoor paddle adventure.
