Monthly public runs March–September and private diesel locomotive rentals for events in Rancho Cordova, California.
Sacramento Valley Live Steamers Railroad Museum is a railroad museum located in Rancho Cordova, California. The museum operates miniature train experiences and private rentals that run through a scenic park near the American River. Its signature public offering, Public Run Day, features a 15‑minute train ride that travels over wooden trestles and bridges and provides views of river-side habitat and local wildlife. Public Run Day is scheduled on the first weekend of each month from March through September, creating regular seasonal opportunities for families and visitors.
In addition to public runs, the museum offers a Diesel Locomotive Rental for private events. The rental option enables groups to host birthdays, school parties, corporate picnics, and similar gatherings at the train facility. Rental events include access to covered picnic tables and the support of dedicated personnel who operate the locomotives and assist guests. Renters are asked to bring food and decorations while the facility provides train operation and staff support.
The museum emphasizes short scenic train rides and private-event rentals that utilize the site’s track, trestles, and picnic areas. Visitors should check scheduled Public Run Day dates and confirm rental availability in advance. Public Run Day runs monthly during the March–September season. Diesel Locomotive Rental is available by reservation for group events. The museum’s Rancho Cordova location offers convenient access for local residents and visitors exploring the American River corridor. Guests are encouraged to verify operating dates and rental terms before arrival to ensure the chosen date and services are available today.
