This tour provides a general overview of The Bronx, its rich history, cultural diversity and varied local art scene located in the heart of the South Bronx. Enjoy strolling along The Grand Concourse, once the most affluent Boulevard in The Bronx. This main thoroughfare was built during the height of the City Beautiful movement over a century ago and has welcomed people from all over the world. Majestically dubbed the Grand Boulevard and Concourse when conceived in the 1890’s, this main corridor in the magnificent Art Deco historic district is home to an assemblage of small galleries, museums and street art. Visitors will learn first-hand the history and cultural nuances of this once prominent neighborhood, its dark period in the 1970’s and 80’s and the slow return to becoming one of the most sought out neighborhoods in the South Bronx.
