We'll take off out of spring city marina harbor and stroll thru the bay meandering thru the islands as the engine warms up. Then we can motor to dickeys bluff where cliff jumping is optional. We'll be about half way to the dam/lock as we approach the main channel of the Tennessee river observing wildlife along the way. I'll radio or call the lockmaster to check status of locking through. If we can't lock thru right away we can explore a large cove right off the main channel. It's about a 15-20 mile ride round trip depending on our route. Locking thru watts bar dam to Chickamauga Lake is a 65-70 water level drop depending on what the lake level is. Being in the concrete chamber is a cool experience. It takes about 45 minutes to change lakes. It's like a giant water elevator. You'll see the nuclear plants cooling towers up close from the water. The sunset ride back into spring city marina is breath taking. This is a 3 to 4 hour tour.
Protect yourself from sun exposure by bringing plenty of water and applying sunscreen regularly aboard the boat.
