The JEDD was designed by legendary Ed Bell. This affordable and easy access handcycle for recreation and road riding has a nine speed handcycle with internal gear hub and coaster brakes. The gear shift and parking brake are within reach below the cranks. The bike has a nice high seating height that transfers easily, unlike most handcycles. The JEDD has a smaller turning radius which allows for easier turning regardless of how long your legs are. The rear wheels are quick release for easy transport which helps people with the handcycle. The JEDD is for people with reasonable sitting balance, and ideal for someone who wants to transfer independently to and from the handcycle.
Victoria’s routes include paved city paths and some gentle hills—adjust gears accordingly.
Ensure transfers on and off the handcycle are assisted if needed for safety.
Bring water especially during warm months; routes can extend several hours.
Popular rental periods fill quickly, so book ahead to secure your handcycle.
Victoria’s urban trails pass sites rich in Indigenous Coast Salish heritage and colonial-era architecture dating to the 19th century.
