Join a ranger-guided wet walk through the Everglades' unique wetlands. Wade through pristine waters and witness iconic wildlife in their natural habitat, guided by knowledgeable park rangers.
South Florida National Park Service provides ranger-guided interpretive experiences in the Everglades, focusing on wetland ecology, wildlife, and cultural history. The organization offers two primary public programs: a two-hour Ranger Guided Wet Walk from Royal Palm and a three-hour Paddling in Paradise: Ranger-Guided Kayak on Florida Bay. Each program is led by trained park rangers who combine natural history interpretation with safety guidance and leave-no-trace practices.
The Ranger Guided Wet Walk from Royal Palm invites participants to wade through shallow freshwater environments to observe native flora and fauna up close. This two-hour experience emphasizes habitat structure, species adaptations, and the ecological role of Everglades wetlands. The Paddling in Paradise kayak tour traverses Florida Bay mangrove estuaries over three hours, highlighting marine-influenced habitats, coastal species, and the human history of the region. The kayak tour is limited to 12 participants to maintain an intimate experience and reduce environmental impact.
Programs are delivered in accessible formats for visitors prepared for wet or water-based activities; participants receive pre-trip information on clothing, footwear, and safety. As part of the National Park Service presence in South Florida, these ranger-led experiences connect visitors directly to protected landscapes managed for conservation, public education, and recreation. Interpretive content, small group sizes, and ranger oversight support enjoyable, informative visits to the Everglades for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and learners of all ages. Rangers provide information on flora, fauna, safety, and conservation regulations to promote responsible visitation. Booking information, schedules, and accessibility details are available from official National Park Service sources.
