We will visit a fantastic family farm located in Sintra’s hillside. On this farm, the production of wines was interrupted 100 years ago. The current owners with the help of Portuguese and French experts, have studied the local soil and climate, modernized the production and brought their vineyards back to life. At the moment, they produce red and white wines in a traditional way with high quality and national and international recognition.
Colares
A stop in Colares in the cellars of Adega regional de Colares to have a tasting of the best regional wines.
The cooperative winery at Colares (Adega Regional de Colares) was founded in 1931. It congregates today more than 50% of the total production, with an important social role in the region. Its beautiful building dates back to the late of 19th century, with an imposing interior housing wooden barrels, casks and vats totalling more than 1 million litters capacity. It is the maturing and aging place “par excellence” for the wines of this appellation.
Azenhas do Mar
Next, visit Azenhas do Mar, a coastal village in the municipality of Sintra with a very picturesque landscape.
