About This Adventure

Dive into the fascinating world of sharks with an engaging classroom experience at the Downtown Aquarium! Students will explore the unique adaptations and behaviors of these apex predators through dynamic demonstrations and interactive lessons on conservation and ecosystems, all guided by expert educators. A memorable adventure awaits!

Adult Chaperone (19+):$20.00-book a self-guided tour ticket for aquarium admission.

Student (Ages 8-10):$3.00 for the class +$6.50 self-guided tour ticket aquarium admission

*Please Note: Due to the popularity of classroom programs, there is a registration maximum of 2 programs per child. Please make sure to book a self-guided tour ticket for all people in your party for admission to the aquarium.

Class space is limited, so only registered students will be allowed in class. The older student classes for 3rd - 12th grade are drop off classes, no adults or siblings are able to come into the classroom.

Homeschool day is a special event hosted by the Education department, no additional discounts can be used (i.e. City Pass, Groupon, Get Out Pass, or Denver Five by Five cards).

Discover how different species of sharks have adapted to become apex predators. Uncover the unique anatomy and behaviors to see how sharks spend their time. With dynamic demos and interactive exploration, find out why sharks are necessary to keep the ocean ecosystem in balance. Leave the teaching to us! Put your students in the hands of our expert Aquarium educators for exciting classroom lessons on conservation, adaptation, food webs, habitats, locomotion, and defense. Classroom programs are all correlated with the Colorado Model Content Standards.


Dining

Lunches: Please plan to keep lunches outside. Food may be enjoyed in the grass next to the Aquarium, or in the case of poor weather, extremely limited space may be available. Plan to dress warmly and eat outdoors on all occasions. Restaurant Reservations: If you are interested in dining with us during your visit, please call the restaurant for reservations.


Policies and Guidelines

DOWNTOWN AQUARIUM DOES NOT HAVE A STORAGE AREA FOR LUNCHES, COATS OR BACKPACKS.

Chaperones must monitor the students while at the Downtown Aquarium. • Be respectful of other visitors. • Listen to instruction from our staff and volunteers. • Do not touch animals without permission from Downtown Aquarium staff. • Do not tap on exhibit windows. • Use indoor voices, and walk through exhibit pathways. • Do not put anything in the water (fingers, food, coins or other objects)! • Keep your feet on the pathway at all times. No climbing on rocks, trees or exhibit features. • Do not eat, drink, chew gum or smoke inside Downtown Aquarium.

Pack warm clothes and be prepared to eat lunch outside on the aquarium's grassy areas.
