Morning light breaks across Guanabara Bay and the city exhales — vans and 4x4s move off-road into the green ribs of Tijuca while the sea still glints beyond. On day one a short ride turns to forested tracks, the Atlantic Forest daring you forward, then to Corcovado where Christ the Redeemer watches over the city. Sugarloaf's granite flank waits later, its cable car slicing the air for a panoramic close of the bay.
