You push off from the sandy lip of Praia de Faro and the lagoon immediately takes the weight of the day: a glassy channel, gulls arguing overhead, and the tidal breath of the Ria Formosa pulling and releasing around you. Whether you're on a stable SUP or sitting low in a kayak, the water guides you along shallow salt flats where sandbars appear like islands that rise and fall with the tide.
