About

Paddleboarding is quickly becoming the most popular water sport in the Lakes. Gliding gracefully across the water, wobbling and plunging into the water because you can't stop laughing or powering down the lake for a whole body workout... paddleboarding really does have something for everyone.

More info

Paddleboarding has quickly grown from a novel new sport to one of the most popular water sports in the UK. There's a very good reason for that.

If you are feeling emotionally wrung out from life's challenges right now, hire a board and just float peacefully across the water. There's nothing more peaceful than gliding gracefully across the water with just the sound of gently lapping water for company. In the safe area that is free from launches, lie down on the board and let your worries drift away. (Don't close your eyes though - you need to stay aware of other lake users). We've even had guests who practice yoga on their board.

If you are in need of a jolly good chuckle - hire with friends and you can guarantee an afternoon of laughter as you race to be the first to stand and challenge yourselves to wobble competitions to discover who can stay on for the longest.

You don't need any special abilities or requirements to come along and try paddleboarding.  You can sit, kneel or stand on the board. Our instructors can give you basic tips on balance and manoeuvring the board

What to bring

Freshly washed and sanitised wetsuits and buoyancy aids are included in your hire fee. We have a wide range of sizes and age ranges available. If you don't want to wear one of our wetsuits, we'd advise either bringing your own or a change of clothes. Part of the fun of paddleboarding is getting wet, so please don't wear, or take on the water, anything that you would mind getting wet or possibly muddy. Bouyancy aids are essential and must be worn at all times on the water.

Please bring suitable footwear that you don't mind getting wet. Wet shoes or boots are ideal, but not essential.

A phone is an excellent safety precaution to have with you and cameras are a brilliant way to record the memories of your day out, but please remember that electronics and water do not mix. Please either bring or buy a dry bag or leave your valuables at home. Small dry bags are widely available online or we have a selection available for sale at Nichol End.

Please note: the changing rooms have a shower, while the changing tents do not. You can also book these on the next step.
