About

Cycling UK sponsor events like this all over the UK to encourage people to get on a bike, learn new skills, find new tracks and trails in their area, improve fitness, have fun and enjoy the huge amount of benefits that cycling brings to people!

We have a number of sessions on offer, but please, only book 1 guided ride session per person. You could book a guided ride and also attend the 'fix it session'.

This is a great opportunity to come along and try an e-bike. Your friendly, experienced MTB instructor will teach you the basics and take you on a scenic guided ride, on quiet country roads and easy going off road trails.

Fitness levels/ability

Participants need to be able to ride a bike with some confidence, though we do expect participants who may not have been on a bike in a while (which is the point of these sessions!). In terms of fitness, participants need to have a good base fitness level. The e-bikes assist the rider, and you still need to pedal the bike along, albeit a lot easier with a motor to help boost you up the hills. You don't need to have been on an e-bike before. If you are an advanced cyclist, this session is not for you, as the pace will be easy going, with lots of breaks, tailored to our target audience.

The route

After a short warm up ride, we will head up onto the edge of Porlock Hill via a gentle climbing, wide off road track which heads upto the Toll Road. From here, we will descend into Porlock via the toll road, head through the village and out across the cycle path to Bossington. We will then head along the road to Allerford, a flat off road trail and some quiet road to Horner, then back round to Porlock and back down to the Weir via the road.
