Located in the heart of Andalucía near the quaint town of Jabalquinto, the Experiencia de Oleoturismo y Gastronomía del Mediterráneo offers travelers a unique, immersive dive into the world of olive oil—an emblematic treasure of this sun-drenched Mediterranean landscape. This captivating 4-hour journey leads visitors through the expansive Finca Badenes, a working olive estate showcasing a rich tapestry of olive groves that stretch across gently rolling hills. The region’s golden light filters through ancient olive trees, some several centuries old, providing a genuine connection to the land’s deep agricultural roots.
At Finca Badenes, participants embark on a sensory tour designed not only to educate but to engage. You’ll begin by walking among diverse olive varieties, each cultivated to best express the unique terroir of southern Spain. Expert guides explain the complex cultivation process and share insights into the intricate techniques that separate ordinary oil from the premium varieties produced here. An innovative highlight of the experience is a virtual reality segment, which brings the inside of the olive oil production process vividly to life—an interactive glimpse into pressing, extraction, and storage methods steeped in tradition.
The journey culminates in a guided tasting session of freshly pressed extra virgin olive oils, where visitors savor subtle flavor notes, from grassy and peppery undertones to fruity hints characteristic of high-quality Mediterranean oil. The tasting is thoughtfully paired with the "AIRES" menu, a carefully curated selection of dishes crafted from local ingredients that celebrate and elevate the flavors of the region, all enjoyed within the serene setting of the olive groves themselves.
Finca Badenes stands apart as a pillar of agro-tourism in Andalucía, blending sustainable farming practices with cultural storytelling to deepen visitors’ appreciation of Spain’s culinary heritage. This experience appeals especially to food lovers, culture seekers, and outdoor enthusiasts eager to connect with rural traditions in an authentic, meaningful way.
