Close to a thousand works ranging from the 13th to the 20th centuries have made this museum one of the most outstanding internationally. The Collection includes artists of the stature of Titian, Rubens, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Manet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Kandinsky, Hopper or Picasso. This gallery provides numerous examples of foreign painters who had not been present until then: Italian and Flemish primitives, key works of the Renaissance, numerous works from the Impressionist era, such as Monet, Degas, Van Gogh and Gauguin. It also has outstanding works from the avant-garde of the 20th century: Fauvism, Expressionism, Surrealism, Abstraction and Pop Art. We will be able to admire works by two of the main Spanish painters: Picasso and Dalí. The opening of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in 1992 gave rise, by joining the Prado and Reina Sofía Museums, to the so-called Triangle of Art on Paseo del Prado, an area that concentrates the most important pictorial heritage in Spain, today recognized as World Heritage of the UNESCO.
