The mythical Western landscape.
One of the island’s most unusual hikes, this fascinating trail takes you from dusty paths to silent forests where we’ll hike alongside one of Ibiza’s tallest drystone walls and see the island’s largest historic lime kiln. We’ll plunge through spectacular wooded valleys to the coastline, where vast limestone pyramids are evocative of an Asian landscape. After exploring a secluded fisherman’s and crystalline coves, we will discover a secret ‘door’ in the rock that gives us access to Ibiza’s most hidden saltwater lagoon. A magnificent hike where few have been.
The Hike Station Grading System: Beginner - Medium
Food & Beverages: Carrying ample drinking water is essential. There are no stores or other facilities along our trails. Fruit and energy bars are ideal for mid-way sustenance.
What to Bring: The Hike Station will provide for each person a small backpack. You should bring at least 1.5L of water per person, and snacks if you would like. Please bring your own: sun hat, sun cream, and swimwear for coastal hikes. Also ensure you bring any necessary medication or inhalers that you might require during the hike.
What to Wear: Suitable footwear, including socks (sports trainers are fine). Anyone wearing unsuitable footwear (such as flip-flops), or no socks, will not be able to hike. Ideally you should wear comfortable, quick-drying sportswear. A jacket or hoodie are recommended for sunset hikes, windy days, or rare cold days! We think black is best!
The trail features dusty and uneven paths; good footwear will keep you comfortable and safe.
Exposure on open sections means sunburn and dehydration risks; pack sunscreen and enough water.
Saltwater lagoons can have slippery edges, so proceed carefully in these areas.
Morning hikes avoid the intense midday sun common to Ibiza's Mediterranean climate.
The drystone walls on the hike highlight ancient agricultural practices dating back hundreds of years on Ibiza.
Efforts are in place to maintain the natural integrity of lagoons and reduce erosion on fragile limestone formations by limiting trail expansion.
