This paddling session will allow participants to practice paddling skills, meet other paddlers and get in a core body workout. A trained guide will provide a travel plan for the group based on skill level plus tides/currents/weather conditions. These sessions do not include individualized beginner instruction. The guides are there to lead the group travel, provide safety guidance, tips on technique and some skills feedback. Participants must have already successfully completed the Learn to Paddleboard or Kayak class before joining any of our Members Meetups. It is recommended that participants take the SUP/Kayak ABC series prior to joining these sessions.
These sessions take place in protected embayments on the Hoboken side of the Hudson River and out on the active water of Hudson River. You can expect stunning views of Manhattan as the back drop. The class follows the American Canoe Association curriculum and industry standards for risk management. The “challenge by choice” model will be used to ensure comfort while allowing each person to participate at his or her own level and develop skills at his or her own speed. This session is for advanced beginner or intermediate paddleboarders. If you are an experienced paddler, join us for this fun and challenging work-out on the water.
