Four to Six Hour Tours Available
Rich in history, hills and minerals, visit Copper Hill. This area North of Globe is riddled with mine shafts and ruins although now mostly privately owned until you reach the Forest Service boundary. Underground tunnels traveled for miles in most every direction as turn of the century operations transported ore to the nearby Old Dominion Mine near Pinal Creek. Cattle ranching continues in these remote areas. The trip winds over the hills to a junction providing access to the earlier mining camp of Richmond Basin. Legend has it that silver nuggets once laid around the ground here. Old cabin remnants, mine shafts, foundations, artifacts and aristas can be found! This route is 4WD at the final climb to the basin. Folks on this route must have experience with 4WD roads and typical vehicle behaviors.
