About This Adventure

About the tour

  • The Old Wine Route is located south of Ensenada approximately 40 km (25 miles). It is made up of the 3 oldest valleys in the region: La Grulla, Santo Tomas and San Vicente Ferrer.
  • On this route you will find the first wineries and the oldest vineyards where wine was made for the first time in Baja California.
  • This route has spaces where you can taste incredible wines and find unique landscapes.

What to expect

  • You will be picked up from your hotel or Airbnb in Ensenada, Valle de Guadalupe between 9:45 AM and 10:00 AM. During this 6-hour excursion you will be transferred to the Santo Tomas Valley on the Old Wine Route.
  • Travel along Baja California's oldest wine route, located an hour south of Ensenada.
  • Our first (1 hour) stop will be at Bodegas de Santo Tomas, you will have the opportunity to taste the labels of the Mexico line (included in the price) and learn more about the first wine producers in the region. Santo Tomas Winery founded in 1888 is the oldest in Baja California recognized internationally for its excellent wines. The winery where they produce the wine is off limits (it is the round building in the middle of the vineyards, designed by Alejandro D'Acosta.
  • Afterwards, we will visit Viñedos Aldo Cesar Palafox, both heir to the oldest winemaking tradition in the region and an example of the latest innovations in winemaking technology. You will be able to taste labels from the Basic line (included in the price) by winemaker Lourdes Martínez Ojeda, internationally recognized for her excellent boutique wines.
  • You will be taken back to your hotel around 4:00 p.m. You will have bottled water and snacks during the tour.
