The Cruise

This adventure takes us off the beaten path to some of the darkest and most serene harbors for the best views of the nighttime sky. This trip is scheduled over the peak of the Perseids Meteor Shower to give us the best chance of seeing a truly spectacular show. Sail along the Maine coast by day, anchor every evening somewhere new, and at night watch the sky dance with 30-50 meteors per hour.

Don’t forget to bring your sleeping bag & pad along if you wish to camp out beneath the stars!

The Ship

The J. & E. Riggin, a beautiful, historic two-masted schooner. She was designated a National Historic Monument in 1991. She is 89′ long on deck, 120′ overall, 23′ wide and draws 7′ with her centerboard up. She was built in 1927 as an oyster dredger and rebuilt for passenger sail in 1977.

The Riggin is fully equipped with GPS, radar, and radio. She meets all Coast Guard requirements for construction and safety equipment.
