Yellowknife is known as the aurora borealis capital of North America. At Tugáh Northern Experiences you can enjoy the beauty of these lights in a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere. We are situated in an ideal location for aurora viewing. Our camp is only five minutes from downtown Yellowknife, so you won’t miss a moment of aurora viewing driving to your location. Yet, we are far enough away from the bright city lights so they won’t interfere with your ability to see the aurora.
We will have warm beverages throughout the night as well as traditional pan-fried bannock.
Please dress warm! Cameras and recording devices are encouraged.
Temperatures can drop well below freezing, so wear insulated, moisture-wicking layers to stay comfortable throughout the evening.
Bring a sturdy tripod to capture sharp, long-exposure photos of the aurora with your camera or smartphone.
Arriving ahead of prime viewing time lets you relax in the cabin and prepare for the show without rushing.
Turn off flashlights and use red light if necessary to maintain night vision and enhance aurora visibility.
Yellowknife developed as a gold mining town but is now renowned globally for its clear skies and prime aurora viewing opportunities.
Tugáh Northern Experiences follows sustainable tourism practices by minimizing light pollution and promoting responsible visitor behavior to protect the fragile Arctic environment.
Keeps you warm in freezing Arctic conditions during nighttime aurora viewing.
