Experience the magic of the holiday season at the Marshall Historical Society’s 42nd Annual Candlelight Walk. Enjoy guided tours of six beautifully decorated historic homes, starting with a festive reception. This unique walking tour promises enchanting sights and a cozy atmosphere, making it a memorable winter outing for all.
The only availabilities left are on Sunday afternoon at this time. Remember, your ticket purchase gains you access to the Honolulu House also but please note that you don't need to have your actual ticket for entry, they have a list of all ticket purchasers at the door.
The Marshall Historical Society’s 42nd Annual Candlelight Walk will be on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 & 10. The event features guided tours to six historic homes decorated for Christmas. The walks will start promptly at 4:00 p.m. and leave every 20 minutes until 7:00 p.m. on both days. Each tour begins with a reception at the Choose Marshall Welcome Center (323 W Michigan Ave). Participants should arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled tour times to enjoy the reception and be ready to depart at their scheduled times.
This is a walking tour and participants should wear comfortable boots or shoes and be prepared for winter weather (this tour is not cancelled due to weather). Each tour group will have approximately 25 persons and make an escorted circuit of the six Candlelight Walk homes in 2 1/2 hours. Participants may be required to remove their boots/shoes before entering homes, bags will be given to each participant to carry their shoes while touring the homes.
Candlelight Walk ticket holders will also enjoy admission to the Honolulu House Museum, beautifully decorated for the holiday, at 107 N. Kalamazoo Ave. Museum hours will be from 12-7 p.m. on both days, be sure to visit before or after your tour. Purchases are not refundable.
Temperatures can drop significantly in Marshall during the Candlelight Walk—wear insulated layers and a good coat to stay comfortable.
The event takes place on brick streets which may be uneven, so sturdy footwear will help keep your footing safe.
While the path is candlelit, additional light will make navigating darker spots easier and safer, especially for families with children.
Parking in downtown Marshall is limited during the event, so plan to arrive ahead of schedule to secure a convenient spot.
Marshall was founded in 1830 and its well-preserved downtown district reflects early Midwestern American architectural styles, making it a living heritage site during the walk.
The event promotes sustainability by encouraging reusable containers at vendor booths and using LED candles for less environmental impact.
