Earthship Puerto Rico is an off-grid demonstration site and experiential education center located at Carr 2, Bo Km 137.6, Aguada, Puerto Rico. The site hosts a fully functioning Earthship — a passive solar, self-sustaining home constructed with reclaimed materials and designed to operate off the electrical grid. Visitors learn how water catchment, solar power, thermal mass, and waste management integrate to support resilient, low-impact living.
The site offers a variety of guided experiences for different interests and group sizes. Offerings include beginner-friendly Apiary Experience (bee education), Earthship Sustainable Living Tours, a combined Earthship + Waterfall Experience, hands-on Mete Mano and Construction Phase workshops, group educational tours for schools and organizations, private workshops, and a Nightly Earthship Stay (eco-dome rental). Each experience emphasizes practical skills, local context, and embodied learning.
Education and stewardship are central to the site’s programming. Tours and workshops demonstrate real systems in active use and provide opportunities for participants to engage directly with building and maintenance tasks. The property’s location in Aguada, Puerto Rico gives visitors access to coastal ecosystems and nearby natural features referenced in specific tours. Earthship Puerto Rico is presented as an accessible learning destination for travelers, students, and groups seeking firsthand exposure to sustainable, off-grid design and small-scale ecological systems.
