We are thrilled to be able to partner with our farm veterinarians Dr. Jen & Dr. Molly from Veterinary Associates to offer you this amazing, interactive, one-of-a-kind Farm Vet experience for a day!
Our time together will include:
Animal Handling Basics:
Instruction on safe and proper techniques for handling various farm animals, including cows, horses, pigs, and goats.
Interactive, hands-on learning covering topics such as:
Performing real life field demonstrations such as routine veterinary procedures.
Administering vaccinations, hoof trimming, routine pregnancy checks and physical examinations are some possibilities.
Working with a licensed veterinarian in a small group to simulate a veterinary clinic setting to diagnose common ailments, and develop treatment plans.
There will be many opportunities throughout the day for Questions and Answers. There will also be time to share educational pathways and career opportunities in large animal veterinary medicine for those wanting to continue to purse their passion for animal science and veterinarian care.
THIS CAMP IS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A STRONG INTEREST IN ANIMALS AND SCIENCE.
PARTICIPANTS SHOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE ANIMALS MENTIONED ABOVE.
PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THE ADVENTURE OF NAVIGATING UNFAMILAR ENVIRONMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH WORKING CLOSELY WITH BOTH LARGE AND SMALL ANIMALS.
A deli lunch will be provided, feel free to pack your own IF you prefer OR have specific dietary needs.
Farm environments can be muddy and uneven, so bring waterproof boots with good grip.
Bring waterproof outerwear as Midwestern weather can shift quickly from sun to rain.
Sanitize hands and footwear as instructed to protect livestock health during the visit.
Engage with the vet instructors to deepen your understanding of animal care and farm life.
