Board at Kip Marina in Inverkip for a 2½-hour search of the Firth of Clyde where a resident bottlenose pod—Lunar, Zuzu, Splash, Bodhi and Clyde—often appears. Warm drinks, expert crew, and ethical viewing make this an accessible marine-wildlife half day.
Firth of Clyde Boat Tours operates from Kip Marina in Inverkip, Scotland, offering guided boat trips across the Firth of Clyde. The operator presents a range of experiences including a 2.5-hour Kip Marina Dolphin Spotting cruise focused on Bottlenose dolphins, porpoises, seals, and seabirds, with hot drinks provided on board.
Passengers can also book a dawn departure to the Tarbert Seafood Festival, sailing through the scenic Kyles of Bute and arriving in Tarbert for a day of local food and culture before returning in the evening. The MV Captayannis / "Sugar Boat" trip visits the iconic Sugar Boat wreck on the River Clyde, combining maritime history with wildlife viewing opportunities. The Citizen Science Seal Trip is a full-day sea survey conducted alongside a researcher; participants use the Sea Watcher App, photograph animals, and help build a seal ID catalog.
Trips emphasize local knowledge of the Clyde and responsible wildlife viewing. Crews guide passengers toward sightings when conditions permit and provide commentary on marine life and coastal history. The citizen science collaboration supports data collection for seals and other marine species through participant observations recorded in the Sea Watcher App. Schedules vary seasonally and all excursions operate subject to weather and tide conditions, so passengers are advised to check departure times and booking availability before travel.
