Evening trolling on Lake Winnipesaukee

About

  • EVENING TRIPS
  • Two person maximum.
  • Four hours only.
  • The season for landlocked salmon and lake trout is April 1st – September 30th.
  • The limit for salmon and trout is any combination of two (salmon, rainbow trout, or lake trout) fish per person per day (i.e. two salmon, one salmon and one rainbow trout, one lake trout and one salmon, etc.) Salmon and rainbow trout must measure at least 15 inches and lake trout must measure at least 18 inches to keep. By state law, once an angler has filled their limit for trout and/or salmon, they must stop fishing.
  • We begin guide trips trolling for salmon as soon as we can get our boat in the water in the spring, which is usually the third week in April.
  • Lake Winnipesaukee salmon typically average around 3-pounds, and get as big as 6-pounds.
  • Trips depart the dock at the scheduled start time and return to the dock at the scheduled end time.

Adventure Tips

Bring insect repellent

Evening hours can bring out mosquitoes near the water—packing insect spray keeps you comfortable.

Dress in layers

Water temperatures drop quickly after sunset; wear layers to stay warm during the trip.

Use polarized sunglasses

They reduce glare and help spot fish beneath the water surface more effectively.

Handle fish gently

If practicing catch and release, use barbless hooks and wet your hands to protect fish skin.
