The sun drops low and the red dunes of Al Lahbab turn incandescent, a broad, wind-shaped landscape that seems to move as you approach. A 4x4 threads a narrow track and then climbs—then slides—over steep faces; the car leans, laughter and a thump of adrenaline follow, and the desert opens into long ridgelines and wind-polished sand.
