Description

An excursion on Etna where you can admire a splendid panorama, ancient craters, lava flows, lunar landscapes and get to know the history and the territory of Etna. After being picked up from your hotel you will head for Rifugio Sapienza, enjoying some view points on the way up. The guide will give you all the information you need about the history and the territory of the volcano and you will visit the sites of the last eruptions and the old Silvestri Craters. From Rifugio Sapienza (1920 m asl) you can choose one of the following options:

• Do some trekking in one of the natural paths of “Parco dell’Etna”, up to 2000 m.
• Acquire the Etna high altitude option: this alternative gives you the chance to enjoy the cable car service offered by ""Funivia dell'Etna"" and reach 2500 m asl. Then, the 4x4 bus will take you till 2900 m and here you will find another guide.The Alpine Guides of Etna will show you the region where the last important activity of the volcano happened and you'll be totally surrounded by a lunar landscape. The view of the Central and the South East Crater together with the east coast of Sicily will leave you breathless. At the end of the walk, you'll take the bus and the cable car back to reach Rifugio Sapienza again.

The excursion will continue with the visit of a lava cave with the proper equipment The last stop before returning to the hotel, will be an organic farms for a delicious sampling of typical products such as honey, wine, oil etc.
