The catamaran slips out of La Paz at first light, bow cutting a bright path across the Sea of Cortez as gulls wheel overhead. Salt spray and a low, steady engine hum set the rhythm; ahead, Isla Espíritu Santo rises from blue water—white sand beaches rimmed by rocky coves where sea lions slide into the surf and dare you to join.
