Wind pulls at a scarf, the sun throws hard light across orange faces of dune, and for sixty minutes the desert tests speed, balance, and breath. You ride a quad across shifting crests, navigate troughs carved by wind, then strap into a sandboard and tip down a steep concave—sharp, quick, and oddly smooth.
