A low-slung 4x4 hums over sandy tracks as dawn opens on iSimangaliso Wetland Park, the ocean a thin blue ribbon beyond a mosaic of dune forest, marsh and lagoon. Your guide scans the horizon—an elephant munching fever-tree leaves, a distant hippo huffing at the estuary—before steering toward Cape Vidal’s broad beach where surf and salt wind sharpen the senses.
